Support Urban Education
Keep up with all the news, events, people and emerging research at UIC’s College of Education.
Welcome to the UIC College of Education!
Here at the College of Education, we pride ourselves on remaining steadfast to our mission of improving educational and life outcomes in historically marginalized schools and communities, while nimbly adapting to the ever-changing demands of education practice.
Where other universities may talk about urban education, we walk the talk.
We have spent more than two decades building a pipeline of teachers, principals, researchers, and policymakers whose work focuses on improving our neighborhood schools most in need of high quality education. Our esteemed faculty produces innovative and cutting-edge research that shapes urban education policy and practice both at home, across the country, and internationally.
We work side-by-side with the communities we serve to address their needs and have intensified our efforts to recruit future educators from within them. We supply schools with high quality teachers and principals and collaborate with partners in the community in ways that few other universities do.
There is a reason why we’re regularly named one of the best graduate colleges in the nation, and why so many students choose to walk through our doors each year. Our programs work. By asking the tough questions and using data to hold ourselves accountable, we are constantly pushing ourselves to improve our service to our students and the schools and communities they will serve.
Today, the stakes are higher than ever, and we have doubled down on our commitment to confront the challenges before us for the long haul.
Whether you are graduating from high school, looking to continue your college education, or are seeking a career change, the College of Education will help you become a caring, critical, and compassionate educator, ready to help us meet these challenges.
Join us in our efforts to make good on the promise of public education.
